I am an Associate Professor of Law at UC Law San Francisco, formerly UC Hastings, where I teach courses on criminal law and health law.

My research broadly focuses on the relationship between health, inequality, and law — a domain I study using different social scientific methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative. Of late, my research has investigated the U.S. health system’s enmeshment with criminal enforcement institutions — with a focus on policing, jail and prison health service delivery, and controlled substance law and policy.

I hold a Master of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, and a Ph.D. in Health Policy from Harvard University.
